CUSTOMER OR CLIENT? Have you been saying this right?<\/p>\n

I was talking to a client the other day (see what I did there?) about her work. She\u2019s a consultant for a multinational and was talking about her customers.<\/p>\n

The thing is\u2026she didn\u2019t have any!
\nIt\u2019s not that she was interacting with ghosts, or becoming delusional,\u00a0\u00a0it\u2019s because she had CLIENTS and not CUSTOMERS.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the difference? It\u2019s actually quite simple.<\/p>\n

A CLIENT is someone who receives professional services or advice from you, and pays a fee.
\nA CUSTOMER is someone who buys something from you (often a product), and it\u2019s usually a one-time purchase.<\/p>\n

Some people have both clients AND customers.
\nI sure do!
\nLet me explain.<\/p>\n

Ik heb\u00a0private clients<\/strong>\u00a0who I personally coach (for months or even years!) on their communication skills. They pay a fee, and I provide a tailor-made service, providing advice, feedback, and hugs.<\/p>\n

I also have\u00a0customers<\/strong>\u00a0who buy\u00a0my books, cards, and courses online.\u00a0<\/a>They then go on their merry way, learning on their own, and (hopefully!) enjoying the process. (If they struggle, then they sometimes become clients!)<\/p>\n

So, my dear\u2026, which one do you have? Clients? Customers? Or maybe both?<\/p>\n

I hope now you know the difference, and no matter who you help or how you help them, I hope you love what you do as much as I do! (If not, your clients will feel that too.)<\/p>\n
