HER VOICE, MY WORDS<\/p>\n

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call.
\n\u2018Hey, Buffi\u2026.this is A Big Famous TV Producer and I really need your help. We\u2019re creating a new format for a TV show, yes, it\u2019s the most popular commercial channel, and it\u2019s primetime\u2026.and our Big Famous TV Host is stuck. Can you help her with her English? She wants to sound authentic and natural. But she\u2019s never done something like this before. Can you help?\u2019<\/p>\n

My calendar is totally full until September, but I was able to shuffle and help That Wonderful TV Host Who We All Know And Love. I wrote the script for the English part of the show, but it wasn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n

\u2018Buffi, she needs to swing it more naturally. Can you record it for her and she can shadow what you say?\u2019<\/p>\n

Yes, of course!
\nBut…she was already fluent in English, so why did she need this?<\/p>\n

You see, it\u2019s not only WHAT you say, it\u2019s how you say it.
\nWhich words native speakers blend together.
\nWhich words are punched for interested.
\nWhich words or sounds are muted.<\/p>\n

Let me give you an example:
\nIf you are focusing on your pronunciation, you will probably speak very very clearly and \u2018fragment\u2019 the words in this sentence (meaning, say them each distinctly and separately):<\/p>\n

\u2018Over 55,000 viewers took the time to fill in Rachel\u2019s survey.\u2019<\/p>\n

But guess what?
