This is a very common mistake. First of all, they are pronounced differently.<strong>\u201cOf\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>should actually rhyme with \u201clove\u201d and \u201cglove\u201d (and you know there\u2019s a great English expression \u2013 \u201cNo glove, no love\u201d, right? Just don\u2019t make me explain it, ok?). \u201c<strong>Off<\/strong>\u201d should rhyme with \u201ccough\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Of<\/strong>\u201d is used to connect things or people \u2013 \u201ca friend of mine\u201d, \u201cmade of gold\u201d, \u201cthe King of England\u201d. It\u2019s also used for direction \u2013 \u201cShe lives north of the library\u201d, \u201cHis office is on the left side of the room\u201d. \u201c<strong>Off<\/strong>\u201d is used in combination with a verb \u2013 \u201cPlease turn off the light\u201d, \u201cHe took off his shoes\u201d, \u201cShe fell off the mechanical bull and broke a nail\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Hope that helps!<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a question?
