It\u2019s been pretty busy in Buffiland, but I wouldn\u2019t have it any other way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR QUESTIONS \u2013 ANSWERED!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHey Buffi! I get confused between \u2018if\u2019 and \u2018when\u2019 \u2013 they\u2019re almost the same, right?\u201c\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 from A, a student.<\/p>\n<p>Wrong, my darling! There\u2019s a big difference between \u2018<em>if\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and \u2018<em>when\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 \u2018<em>If\u2019<\/em>\u00a0means that you are\u00a0<em>unsure<\/em>\u00a0if something is going to happen; the situation is\u00a0<em>hypothetical<\/em>. \u2018<em>When\u2019<\/em>, on the other hand, is used when something is\u00a0<em>going to happen<\/em>, you just don\u2019t know exactly<em>when\u00a0<\/em>it\u2019s going to happen.\u00a0 So, my dearest, if you are negotiating, and you start off with \u2018<em>When<\/em>\u00a0we agree to this\u2026\u2019, your counterpart is ready to go home and drink champagne before you even start! Make sure you use \u2018<em>if\u2019<\/em>\u00a0in negotiations the whole time until you are ready to commit. After that point, you can use \u2018<em>when\u2019<\/em>.
