It\u2019s one of my favorite nights of the year, as it\u2019s one of the few times that most of my clientfriends are under one roof. Or dome, as the case may be. I loved hearing Jacqueline Govaert perform and remember when we first started together when she was a student at the Rockacademie 13 years ago. I rocked out with BL\u00d8F and Racoon and realized I\u2019ve been working with them for 11 years. I had some really deep and meaningful talks with Douwe Bob and Torre and Giovanca and\u2026.I could go on for a while and mention lots of other artists and the afterparty and the joy I felt the entire evening (and into the next morning) but I think this picture pretty much sums it up.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/go.3fm.nl\/3fm-awards\/foto\/72157643753387994#!photo=13766908065\">http:\/\/go.3fm.nl\/3fm-awards\/foto\/72157643753387994#!photo=13766908065<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffiduberman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/buffi3fm.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2934\" alt=\"buffi3fm\" src=\"http:\/\/rockyourenglish.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/buffi3fm-300x227.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"227\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>MY FAVORITE FURRY MAMMALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I started working on the new Racoon album, which means that Bart and I sit for hours and hours and hours and weigh every single word. And sometimes kill some darlings. And sometimes make some new ones. And laugh. And cry (that\u2019s usually me.). It\u2019s an extremely intense and beautiful process and I\u2019m honored to be able to tiptoe through the landscape of his soul. We\u2019ve been doing this together for many years and many albums and every time I love it more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MUZIKANTENDAG<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I gave a workshop at Muzikantendag in Middelburg on Saturday. People had a lot of questions about lyrics, songwriting, pronunciation, and what was in my seaweed smoothie. (I actually poured some into an empty beer glass so that Guus could try it. And he liked it!) There\u2019s another Muzikantendag on 3 May in Almere, if you\u2019d like me to put you on my guest list, just let me know!<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR QUESTIONS \u2013 ANSWERED!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBuffi, why is it wrong to say \u2018a big investment\u2019 in my business email?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 from I, during an in-company training.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, it\u2019s not wrong at all. It\u2019s just not very interesting. The word \u2018big\u2019, just like the words \u2018nice\u2019 and \u2018good\u2019 are so overused in English that they have almost lost their impact. How about saying \u2018a significant investment\u2019 or \u2018a major investment\u2019 instead? A great way to increase your vocabulary is to check out\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesaurus.com\/\">www.thesaurus.com<\/a>. It\u2019s also a great app for your phone! Use it to add more color to your language!
