\nWhat’s that?<\/p>\n
That’s my new name for letters that you can see but not hear in English.
\nOh.
\nWait.
\nNinjas are people you cannot see OR hear.
\nUm…can I call these letters ‘visible ninja letters’?
\nNo, that sounds lame.
\nI’m just going to stick with Ninja Letters.
\nAnd I’ve capitalised it to make it seem official.<\/p>\n
You might have learned some of these at school – words with ‘silent letters’ (gosh, that sounds so old-fashioned. Silent letters. Boring! Let’s go for ninjas instead!).<\/p>\n
Here is a list of some words that have letters you can SEE but not SAY:<\/p>\n
NINJA B:
\nlamb, thumb, numb, crumb, climb<\/p>\n
NINJA K:
\nknock, knack, knob, knuckle, knife, knee<\/p>\n
NINJA T:
\nChristmas, listen, match, witch, castle<\/p>\n
NINJA H:
\nrhythm, what, honest, hour, ghost, whether<\/p>\n
So, the next time these letters sneak up on you, just acknowledge them with your eyes but NOT WITH YOUR MOUTH!!<\/p>\n
