Happy King\u2019s Day!<\/p>\n

If you live in the Netherlands, you know what I\u2019m talking about. If you don\u2019t \u2013 today is a national holiday celebrating the King\u2019s birthday. Normally the streets are full of festivities, but today people are celebrating at home. Even the King himself. (Although I wouldn\u2019t mind being cooped up in his home for a while\u2026!) <\/a><\/p>\n

And what better way to celebrate a Royal holiday than to learn some Royal expressions in English? (Honestly, I cannot think of anything better myself.)<\/p>\n

Here we go!<\/p>\n

To live like a king<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 to have a very luxurious lifestyle
\nJohn lived like a king when he was in college \u2013 he even had a cleaner for his dorm room!\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

King of the jungle<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the lion (which is actually ironic, as lions do not generally live in jungle environments)
\nSimba was king of the jungle.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The uncrowned king- <\/strong>someone who is\u00a0considered to be the best at something
\nMany people have said that Frank Sinatra was the uncrowned king of crooners.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A king\u2019s ransom<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a large amount of money
\nDid she really buy that diamond-encrusted Tesla? It must have cost a king\u2019s ransom!<\/em><\/p>\n

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Someone who has limited skills, talent, or ability, yet somehow has power or influence over even less talented people. (The current inhabitant of the White House is a perfect example of this. No example sentence for this. Just don\u2019t drink bleach, ok?)<\/p>\n

Fit for a king<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 of the very highest standards
\nWow, look at that golden bathtub! It\u2019s fit for a king! (I said while grabbing bubble bath.)<\/em><\/p>\n
