Buffi Blog – July 2011

I was lucky enough to get to coach one of the most talented singers/songwriter/guitarists of the Netherlands, Bertolf. I kept having to remind myself that he was human. His new album is breathtaking, as are his lyrical and guitar skills. We hated each other so much.

I finished my writing for Wouter Hamel – this time the bio for his new album, Lohengrin. Wouter is one of the best examples I can give of how English pronounciation can sound when it’s sung by a non-native. I’m so proud of how hard he works and how very far he’s come. It’s a brilliant album, I’m so proud to have been a small part of it, and the first video is here.

I also chaired auditions at the Rock Academie for the new academic year. I saw some incredible singers, music producers, and rappers. Here I am with my homeys Sticks and Fred van Straten, before the new candidates came in…

July also brought me to the Dutch countryside, where I worked with a band I’ve admired for years but never thought I’d ever work for, as they sing in Dutch…but not on their new album! Jack and Tren, you made me feel at home right away. I love you guys.
