Hello,
Let’s talk about self-care. It’s not what you think it is.
This is my monthly manicure.
I love it.
It makes me so happy when I see my colorful nails doing fun things.
And this brings me to self-care.
Many people think that self-care is getting a manicure or eyelash extensions, or going shopping, or binge-watching Netflix.
I get it. I LOVE and I do all of these things.
Without shame. (Oh, and don’t get me started on the phrase ‘guilty pleasure’. If something brings you joy, please enjoy it without shame or apology. Eat that cheesecake, listen to those tearjerker country songs and spend quality time knitting. You do you. Be happy in the things that bring you closer to joy.)
However, what people sometimes forget is that all of these things (the mani pedi, the shopping, the eyelashes) are self-care for your outside.
Which is awesome.
But it’s not enough.
What about self-care for your SOUL?
I see my body as my soul shell.
I love it and I take great care of it.
But I also honor my soul.
That to me is real self-care.
I journal to discover new insights, fears, challenges.
I drink coffee in the sun, in silence, to daydream and let my mind wander.
I meditate, walk in nature, cry at the most unexpected times and drench my life in gratitude as much as I can.
Polishing your car is great (I mean, I have heard it’s great, I have never done this myself).
But keeping the engine healthy is greater.
What does your engine need?
I hope you find it and honor your soul in the way she needs it most.
Sending you the biggest high five (with my manicured hand)!
Happy weekend, darlings!
Liefs,
Buffi
