Rock Your English! newsletter

Oh, delicious, darling, dearest, who has compared thee to a summer day today? No one? Really? How is that possible?!? Let me be the first. Actually, I can’t compare you to a summer day. Know why? You’re hotter than a summer day. For real. No matter what these silly girls say!

WHAT’S UP IN BUFFILAND

We’ve hit 40% of our goal for publishing my new book! If you’d like a fabulous Business English workshop at your office, or a Rock Your English! workshop at your school, with free books for everyone, book it before September 1st and we’ll take care of the rest!

And if you’ve bought my book already (I love you for that, thank you so much!), but would still like to come to my party in the gutter on October 22nd (because we’re holding it at Knijn Bowling in Amsterdam!) and enjoy a wonderful night full of music, food, drinks, our lovely host Eric Corton, and special musical guests, snap up your tickets hier!

GOT LYRICS? WANT COACHING?
NO TIME? NO BUDGET? NO PROBLEM!

PERSONAL COACHING SUMMER DISCOUNT
I’m offering 8 artist coaching sessions of 1 hour each on August 23rd at Seats2Meet in Den Bosch (located in the train station and the parking garage is underneath). Each session is 1 hour, completely private, and has a flat fee of 100 euros.

I can check your lyrics, your pronunciation, help you get the most out of your songwriting, and train the whole band. Depending on your level, we can do anywhere between 3 to 7 songs in an hour.

Here’s the shizzle.

Sign up here for a session time between 9 am and 5.30 pm . Have your lyrics printed and ready to go, and a link/mp3/demo ready for listening. Bring your whole band or a friend or come alone – it’s a flat fee, with a maximum of 4 people.

Oh, and coffee, tea AND COOKIES are on me!

You’ll leave with a better perspective and new insights on your own lyrics and pronunciation, and get my VIP top artist treatment without breaking your budget. I get to spend a day coaching emerging talent, which I love. Grab your band, have everyone pitch in 25 euros, spend an hour getting feedback, then go out for a Bossche Bol. What more could you ask for?

I REALLY WANT PERSONAL COACHING AT THIS PRICE BUT I AM NOT AN ARTIST- CAN I STILL SIGN UP?

Yes, you can! On August 30th I’m having another coaching day (at Seats2Meet in Den Bosch) for people who want to work on Media Training, Presentation skills and Writing Feedback.

This is an excellent chance to get honest feedback on your presentation, your writing skills, or to get the most out of your interviews in English. Make sure that your professional English has the level that it deserves!

It’s the same deal – 100 euros for 1 hour. Please come prepared with the materials you would like to practise or get feedback on, and sign up for an hour which suits you best (between 9 am and 5.30 pm). Refreshments are on me!

You’ll leave knowing exactly how you should improve in English, with my personal tips that will help you reach the next level in your professional communication. Sign up today (click here), as only 8 spaces are available!

Looking forward to this new way of coaching!

YOUR QUESTIONS – ANSWERED!

‘Hey, Buffi! I’m wondering if I should say “He smiled sweet “ or “sweetly” in my new song? Thanks, Y.’ – via Facebook.

Hiya! Thanks for asking! Technically it should be ‘sweetly’ as it is an adverb, describing how someone smiles. Most adverbs end in ‘ly’ – like quickly, slowly, easily, and beautifully. But watch out! There’s a huge difference between ‘hardly’ (which means ‘almost not’) and ‘hard’! If my student (not you!) says “I was working so hardly last night” I usually ask what was on TV and who won the football match!

ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END

Like chocolate milkshakes (with a tiny drop of Frangelico) and Mojitos (the mint is like eating a salad, don’t forget that) and this, my weekly newsletter/love letter to you. Last week I asked if I should continue throughout the summer and 100% of the respondents (and there were quite a lot of you!) said yes! So thank you for taking me on vacation with you! Sending you all a huge salad full of mint leaves with some rum and ice cubes…and …you know. Just go and grab a Mojito and enjoy your day!!
