This is how I deal with challenging times….

I’m not going to lie to you.
These are unprecedented times. It’s hard to stay calm.
The news shifts every hour.
And it’s getting harder for many to find good news. The Netherlands is basically on lockdown until April 6th.This is how I deal with times of uncertainty.

I get creative.
I do research.
I breathe.
And I help.

So this happened:

I got creative – every day I will do a Lockdown Lesson, live on IG or FB, and I will announce the time beforehand for that day. We are all in this together, let’s try to make the most of it by laughing and learning every day!

I did research – If you are a teacher or a parent looking for free English courses to learn/teach English online or at home, I have compiled 10 useful links. For kids, for adults, all levels and all ages. All for free and fun to use! (Check out the one for football fans!) Click hier to see the list!

I breathed. A lot. (And I don’t plan on stopping!) I find that a certain breathing technique really helps me calm down fast and that is 4-7-8 breathing. Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4, hold it for 7, then exhale with a SH or a F sound for a count of 8 (or longer). If your exhale is twice as long as your inhale, you will feel balanced and grounded. Try this for a cycle of 5 breaths, and see how you feel at the end. It’s important that you breathe from the belly button down – breathe low and s-l-o-w. Let me know if this works for you!

I helped – I am offering support for English teachers who are now forced to take their classrooms online. Many have reached out to me and it’s wonderful to connect with teachers all over the country! If you need help with this, let me know and I can brainstorm with you!

We are all in this together.
Let’s make the most of it.

Sending you all love and a huge elbow tap!
