2 simple hacks for immediate headspace

I spent part of the summer in Iceland, and it was such a game changer for me.

I had enormous clarity and so much headspace. I did 2 simple things on vacation that I continue to do now that I’m home. 😍

MY 2 TIPS: ✅

  1. I put my phone in another room and walk over to it when I need it. It’s not on my desk or within reach. If I need my phone, I have to make an effort to get to it first.
  1. My phone is off when I’m not using it. I do what I need to do, then I turn it off. I have to turn it on to use it again.

WHY I DID THIS:🤔

So often I felt like scratching that itch – habitually checking social media or mails, but was too lazy to get up, walk over to my phone, turn it on, and then check. This was a clear sign that social media and mails were not important to me at that moment. So I went on cooking, writing in my notebook, reading…etc, instead of interrupting my flow to mindlessly just grab my phone, something I did far too often.

THE RESULTS: 🤩

I no longer have my phone in or near my hand at all times. I have to make a conscious effort and decision to use my phone. My screen time is greatly reduced, and I am much more discerning about what I post, follow, and read. I turned off notifications years ago, but these 2 hacks have helped me enormously.

This careful curation of my screen time has made an enormous difference in how I spend my time and my energy. It’s glorious and I don’t ever want to go back to that social media/doom scrolling/constant mail refreshing ever again.

I wish the same for you!

How do you deal with your phone?
