3 tips to speak with impact

An unforgettable event put it to the test

When you do what you love, it never feels like work. Even if you leave at 6 am and take 5 trains to get to a place that’s an hour away (tons of delays…and the train announcer said ‘Due to a power outrage, this train is cancelled’. This made me giggle, despite the inconvenience – many people were outraged, though 😡). 

When you are the Speaker Coach for the event of the year, you do it all with a smile, because you know the day will be jam-packed with joy!

‘A Galaxy of Gratitude’ was the theme of the recent Rituals Global Brand show, where people from over 30 countries arrived to the Ahoy in Rotterdam for a fabulous day full of information, motivation, and innovation (just wait until you see what’s coming in the stores), plus lots of inspiration. This is how Rituals rolls, and it’s always such an honor to roll with them, coaching the speakers on their script, storytelling, stage presence, and more. 

The screen was huge – 24 by 8 meters!

My beloved speakers NAILED their talks and OWNED that stage.  

Here are 3 tips that really helped them, and I hope they serve you well too!

1. Your talk starts the minute you walk into the room. Walk in with your head held high, with a big smile. Your positivity is contagious, and people will be even more excited to see you shine on stage!
2. When you are showing a video, this is your moment to have a slow and low (from the belly button down) exhale. It immediately reduces your nerves and gets you rebalanced, fast. No one will see it, but you will feel the results right away. 
3. End strong – make sure your voice doesn’t drop at the end of a sentence. Punch/highlight the numbers, data, statistics, and descriptive language, but end strong instead of fading out.
